Some thoughts about class discussions.
A big part of the learning process in this class will be via discussion and critiques of web sites designed by members of the class, and people on the Net. In order to make these discussions as productive as possible, I suggest a few ground rules.

Whenever someone shows a site in class, I would prefer that follow-up discussions take this format:

  1. What did you like or dislike about the project?
  2. Questions by the designer for the audience.
  3. Questions by the audience to the designer.
  4. General comments.
The idea here is to keep comments constructive, honest, and if possible, positive. Talk about how the project made you feel, what you thought about while it was shown, what you liked about it. We should try to avoid comments like: "I think you should add a QuickTime movie of the chupacabra on the first page." Comment on the project, not on how the project would be different if you had done it.
