brooklyn farms

Diary of a rooftop garden that dreams of growing into an urban farm.

June heat wave.

Glad I got the plants in last week as we’ve had a wicked hot spell for the last four days. Temps in the high 90s and heat index well above 100F. The chiles seem to be loving it though. I have the drip system running on the same schedule I used late last summer – 5 minute waterings at 5am, 9am, and 3pm – and the soil seems to be staying moist under the mulch.

All in all having heat-loving plants on the roof makes it easier to tolerate this kind of weather.
